Your world, your mods, your rules — and no monthly fee per player.
Game servers need exactly two things: fast single-thread CPU and fast disk for world loading. That is the hardware Buran runs — Ryzen 9 7950X3D with Gen4 NVMe. Compiles, world generation and chunk loading are CPU-bound single-thread tasks, and this is the best CPU class you can rent for that money.
| Setup | RAM | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Terraria, small vanilla Minecraft (2–5 players) | 2 GB | Buran-1 — €6.5/mo |
| Vanilla Minecraft (10–20), Valheim | 4 GB | Buran-2 — €13/mo |
| Modded Minecraft, multiple servers | 8 GB | Buran-3 — €26/mo |
A modded pack needs more RAM for the JVM, so do not squeeze it into 2 GB. The full setup with systemd, correct JVM flags and backups is in the Minecraft server guide.
CPU is shared and fair-use: your server gets strong burst performance and steady cores in practice, but it is not a dedicated physical core. For 10–20 friends this is invisible. A 100-player public server belongs on a dedicated machine, not a €26 VPS — we will tell you that instead of selling you the wrong thing. DDoS protection for popular public servers is not included either; private servers with unlisted addresses rarely get attacked.
Daily snapshots of the whole VM are included — if a plugin update ruins the world, restore yesterday's copy in one click. Keep your own off-site copies too: restic guide.
Technically it boots, practically it stutters: 1 GB is below the comfort line for modern Minecraft. For a couple of players on an old version it can work; otherwise start at Buran-1.
There is network-level protection, but we do not advertise filtered game hosting. Private servers with shared addresses rarely attract attacks; public large-scale servers need specialized DDoS-protected hosting.
Minecraft (Java and Bedrock), Valheim, Terraria, Don't Starve Together, Project Zomboid, CS2 for a small private group — basically everything with a Linux dedicated server that does not need Windows.
Start with 4 GB and 20 players: Buran-2, €13/mo.
